Hilde Hildebrand as varietée singer in "Die englische Heirat". Renate Müller and Adolf Wohlbrück, english cineasts know him as Anton Walbrook, dance together. The Orchester is Ilja Livschakoff and his men. Hilde Hildebrand als Bella Armery in der herrlichen Komödie "Die englische Heirat" von 1934 von Reinhold Schünzel. Das Orchester ist Ilja Livschakoff. Während Hildebrand im Varietée singt und von Georg Alexander bewundert wird, kommen sich Alexanders Frau (Renate Müller), von der keiner seiner adeligen Familie etwas wissen darf und sein Freund (Adolf Wohlbrück - später in England Anton Walbrook) beim Tanzen im Schloss näher. Die Filmfassung unterscheidet sich in der Instrumentierung deutlich von der (etwas langweiligeren) Schellackfassung! Besonders das Intro bzw. das musikalische Zwischenspiel mit den Zymbal macht diese Fassung, meiner Meinung nach, mehr als hörenswert!

Hilde HILDEBRAND was a German actress who was born in Hannover in 1897. She started her career in 1914 as a comedy actress in various Operetta-stages in Berlin, also performing in silent-movies, e.g. "Die Scheidungs-Ehe", "Es bleibt in der Familie", "Der Trödler von Amsterdam" or "Rasputins Liebesabenteuer". She became better known, however, when the sound-movie production started in the turn of the 1920/30s. As a monumental severe-blonde-beauty and with her low voice, accurately matching the taste of the era, she soon became one of the most popular UFA actresses. In 1930/40s she performed in "Das Schicksal der Renate Langen", "Bobby geht los", "Viktor und Viktoria", "Die englische Heirat", "Barcarole", "Amphitryon", "Fräulein Veronika", "Tanz auf dem Vulkan" or "Bel Ami". Her greatest triumph, however, weas her role with Hans Albers, in one of last Nazi-Germany great movie-schlagers: "Grosse Freiheit Nr. 7" (1944). After WWII she continued acting in movies and the theatre, slowly sliding away into oblivion, to die alone at the age of 78 in her house in Gruenewald, Berlin, in 1976.
